There in the sky, to brighten the night, is our celestial friend the moon. Illuminating our fears and our shadows, after many nights in darkness, we are graced by its full lunar presence. The energy emanating from the moon at this time can help bring a sense of renewal in our lives. Concerns dwelling in our hearts and minds now come to the surface. The time of the full moon is an opportunity to reflect, heal, and let go. I am going to share with you ways you can utilize this energy to realign yourself on the path to your goals.
What can we do during the full moon?
The first part of this cycle gifted us with the energy to start anew and create. Now is the time to either reflect upon our manifestations or confront blockages that have risen and need attention in order for your desires to manifest. These are some ways you can embrace the gift of the new moon to help you achieve your goals.
Meditate. Meditation is great at this time. You might find your thoughts racing under the energy of this moon. Mine always seem to. Meditate in a clean, calm, sacred space. If possible, meditate under the light of the moon. Ground yourself, relaxing each part of your body. And begin reflecting on the past two weeks. Ask in your mind a question and let the answer come to you. It’s okay if you have trouble focusing your thoughts on the practice. Let them flow naturally, and you just might find that they lead you to the insight you needed. Once finished, write down your reflections in a journal or piece of paper.
Spiritual bath. Once in a while, a spiritual bath can be beneficial to cleanse worn our energies and thought forms that have remained stuck to you for some time. A bath can be as simple as adding bath salts, sea or pink Himalayan salt, and Florida water to your bath. You can also add rose water and essential oils. Once you have this mixture in your water, say a prayer or intention for this water to cleanse you. Feel free to set any other intentions or prayers.
If you only have a shower and not a bath, you can buy 1 -3 buckets from your local discount store. Fill it with water and the ingredients mentioned, and in your shower, slowly pour this mixture over your head and body.
Journal. Now is an excellent time to releasethings, that are no longer serving you; events, people, thoughts, or mindsets. A great way to do this is to journal or write letters to people who you want to release. In the option to write a letter, explain in this letter your thoughts and feelings surrounding this person and related events. Be as detailed as you can.
If you choose to simply journal, you can write about events that occurred to you and how you felt about them, again, being as detailed as possible. You can even write a list of limiting beliefs that you have reflected on and now would like to let go of. Write as much as you can in a notebook or piece of paper. When you finish, I would also suggest writing a declaration at the end. Something like:
I RELEASE (the subject(s) you wrote about) FOR MY HIGHEST GOOD, AND THE HIGHEST GOOD OF ALL INVOLVED. SO IT IS.
Releasing Ritual. An additional following your journaling practice step will be up to your preference. Take the letters or reflections you have written, and into a large cooking pot, use with a candle lighter to burn the page. Note: If you are under 18 reading this, please have adult supervision. Also, have water nearby because its better to be on the safe side.
When you burn your writings, watch it burn until the last flame. Make sure to let go of the paper into the pot before it can burn your hand. If there is a part that has not been burned away, take note of the words that remain. This is an indicator of something that might be particularly tough for you to release and might require further reflection. Try again to burn the remains until it has become complete ash. Dispose of the ash, and you have now completed a release ritual.
Final thoughts
From the darkest night of the month, we witness a full transformation, for what was hidden for many nights now emerges into full view. No longer conjunct with the Sun, casting darkness, the new moon seeks to shed light on life’s shadows. Allow this newly found light to help you re-align you to your goals.
The full and new moon are great times to bear in mind the universal law of rhythm, a fascinating law that I wrote about here. Cycles remain evident everywhere in life. We can witness from them in high and low tides of the sea to the rhythm of night and day. The journey of the new moon and the full moon is the same.
We can learn from the moon that life presents a constant cycle of energies, some of which we might perceive as high and low. What we can do as conscious creators of our destinies is align ourselves to the flow of these energies, thus allowing our desired manifestations to flow to us with ease.
I hope you found this post helpful. Remember to follow your heart and keep adventuring. : )
