The notion of this universal law has been growing popular in recent years with many people using it to create the lives they desire, sharing their experiences with this law in books, DVDs, talk shows, or through social media. I’m sure you’ve heard before, “like attracts like”. This is how the law of attraction functions. Simply put, you attract what you believe, what you think, and ultimately who you are. Unconsciously, we are working with the LoA all the time in our day to day lives. However, we can begin working with this law, consciously implementing it so we can attract the favorable outcomes we desire in our lives. This can be done bearing in mind a few principles.

I’m sure you’ve heard before, “like attracts like”. This is how the law of attraction functions. Simply put, you attract what you believe, what you think, and ultimately who you are. Unconsciously, we are working with the LoA all the time in our day to day lives. However, we can begin working with this law, consciously implementing it so we can attract the favorable outcomes we desire in our lives. This can be done bearing in mind a few principles.
First, I am going to explain how manifestation works. Second, I will explain to you steps on consciously manifesting. Last, I will briefly name some tips as well as some food for thought going forward. Let’s dive in.

1. Flow; why this works
Perhaps you have read about this idea in self-help books or have attended therapy sessions or seminars that have expressed the power of one’s mind and the power of the thoughts we have in it. Manifestation generally works whether or not we are conscious of it, and it begins with a thought. The thoughts we think have a great influence on how we feel. Our feelings are often the driving force for our actions. The actions we take produce a variety of results. This is a simple explanation for manifestation.
Thoughts → Emotions → Actions → Results
In short, your thoughts influence your emotions, your emotions influence your actions, which of course influences your circumstances.
Now as I mentioned before, you attract that of which you are. Before consciously beginning to implement techniques for manifesting you want, I want to express how important it is to do self-work. I believe it is important to do inner work, because many of our everyday manifestations, from the place we live to the job we have, is a manifestation of our own subconscious beliefs.
2. Resistance; why this doesn’t work
Resistance is the blockage of a free-flowing force. It prevents or resists whatever is in motion from moving in a given direction. Why is this relevant to the LoA practice? What creates resistance?
When events don’t seem to go our way there is resistance at work. There is some energetic force preventing our desires to flow to us easily. When this happens, we have to look at the root problem, examining beyond our actions and our feelings to what lies deeper; our beliefs.
The beliefs we choose to carry with us in our unconscious mind are what ultimately affects our lives as we know it. This is why some of the things we desire to have in our lives don’t come to us as easily as we might like. Change your beliefs and your world will begin to change as a result. Now that I have established this aspect, I will explain the basic principles of this universal law.
3. How to use the law of attraction
The steps for consciously implementing the Law of Attraction are think, visualize, show gratitude, release, and receive. I will now proceed to elaborate on each step and its significance.
Think about what you want. Be clear and detailed.
To attract consciously, you need to know what you want. If you can get a clear idea of what it is you desire to attract, you can attract clearer results. Take the time to think about this. You can even take out a pen and paper if you need to organize your thoughts.
Visualize what you want, using your senses to help you accept them as reality.
This step is important. Close your eyes, and for at least 17 seconds, imagine the moment and your life after receiving the thing you have asked for. Be detailed with what you imagine. Try to imagine the smell, taste, the touch of it. Perhaps what you want is an object. If so, envision the feel of it. Is it warm or cold, soft, or smooth? What are you wearing when you receive your manifestation? Most importantly, how are you feeling? Are you surprised, happy, or excited? Do you call someone to express this? Sit with these feelings as long as you feel necessary. Make it as real as possible!
Show gratitude, knowing that your desires are already yours and therefore must manifest into your present reality.
When you receive a gift, you say “thank you” (well, I hope you do). Do the same to affirm that you have just received something. Pretend it’s as if your online purchase has been confirmed and is currently on its way to you.
Personally, when I am expressing gratitude in this step, I use the present tense or even past tense. I convey my thanks as if I had just received the thing I asked for and am now expressing gratitude for that. When you take a moment to do this, focus on the feeling of being grateful. This might feel like excitement or content. Know that you are doing well when you find yourself smiling as you do this.
Release doubt or sudden thoughts carrying resistance.
It’s important to let go and not think about what you asked for. Instead, focus on other things and move forward with your life trusting the process. If possible, live your life as if you already have received your manifestation!
Receive – Be open to receiving from anyone or anything around you.
Try not to expect a particular way for your item to be delivered to you. Understand that the “universe”,” god”, or whoever is at work, and therefore has many forces at its disposal. Don’t get attached to the “How?”. Let go, move forward with your life, trusting that it will come to you.
4. Act as if
One fun exercise to help your success in manifesting is to act as if. I touched on this briefly above in the Release step of manifesting. What I described was the notion of acting as if you have already received the thing you desired. What will you do with that money that you asked for once it is been received? How might you feel when you receive those new pair of shoes you wanted?
Start feeling those emotions now! Start planning what you will do what that money now! Start feeling grateful and confident walking around in the shoes you currently own. If its a job you want, start shopping for that job even if you don’t buy anything. Start dressing the part or get in the habit of working from a desk. Consider starting whatever preparations you would need to make as if you were already awarded the position, but of course, do this within your means comfort.
I’m not saying to spend money you don’t have. Align to the energy of what you want, by doing, embodying its energy. You can get creative with this as you like. Don’t worry about the how, why, or the timing of your manifestation. Focus instead on your next order of business.
5. The role of our emotions
A great tool that can help us travel to the root of what is creating resistance in our manifestations is our emotions. Your emotions should not be ignored. They are the greatest tool at our disposal for helping us find our deepest wants and desires. You might think you want to be a billionaire, but how does envisioning a life with that kind of income make you feel? Do you feel excited or worthy? Or do you feel scared, unworthy, or even ashamed for even desiring such a thing?
Why do we have these feelings and what is at the root of them? What is the core belief that we have that prompts such an emotional response? Don’t run and hide from your emotions. In doing so, you are essentially hiding from your truth. Embrace your feelings, and discover the parts of yourself that need healing. Healing is imperative to release limiting beliefs and will allow us to attract easier the lives we truly want. Let your emotions act as your compass, and begin your adventure today by acknowledging them like never before.
6. The root of things
I will end this post by reminding you that you attract that of which you are. This means that everything you see around you is ultimately a reflection of you and your inner world. If you seek to change that, then what must happen first is an inner transformation. Embark on an adventure inside yourself. Analyze and reconstruct your beliefs, using your emotions as a tool to help you discover your deepest thoughts and desires.
By journeying to the root and honoring our deepest feelings, we can begin to heal from negative thought and behavior patterns, which we can then replace with new ones. New beliefs that help us attract the circumstances we dream of one day occurring.
